The 2021 vintage is a great example of this variety’s expression in our Texas climate. It displays a medium-dark ruby color with garnet hints and a nose of rich blackberry, plum and black cherry with cocoa and cedar. Two years of barrel aging has added sweet spice nuances to the mix. On the palate, the bright fruit signature is confirmed with more cocoa and warm baking spices in the background, complementing medium acidity and a solid yet rounded tannin structure. The finish is smooth with lingering black fruit notes. Malbec is well known by wine lovers as a perfect match for grilled red meats complimented by spicy condiments such as chimichurri, barbeque, savory sausages, and cheeses such as Manchego.
